   Ripped Clothing fashion in Pakistan

“Clothes are never a frivolity: they always
                                              Mean something”
                                                               (James laver)

There was a time when we usually throw away those clothes which were ripped, torn up and we didn’t feel comfortable with it even for just a two minutes’ walk, or if we had seen someone whose clothes were damaged, we would have felt sorry for him believing He is extremely poor. But now a days people pay handsome money to buy damaged pants of different brands and feel absolute comfort, not only they use it randomly but also wear it in parties, functions and other events.

Ripped cloths fashion arised in 1970s in western countries.  These were also known as distressed Cloths and it became very popular fashion in Pakistan at the start of 2010’s , and still has popular fan base among new generation . Most of The people who wear this type of stuff are youngster, teenagers who are inspired by their favorite Personalities such as film/drama Actors, Singers, sports athletes and other super stars. The companies manufacturing damaged pants are earning huge amounts; few of them are mentioned Such as Levi’s, Wrangler, Lee jeans, Armani jeans, Calvin Klein. These pants are sold at different prices starting from 1K to 20k, depending upon the quality of jeans.

The Shopkeepers seemed to be very satisfied with trend of ripped cloths; they said the demand of our sale has increased a lot in last few years, Whereas we had mixed reactions in general public about this fashion. Youngsters said that trends like these are demand of time and we need to move along with time while Aged people looked very disappointed with how obscenity has raised in the name of modernization.

I had a chat with few parents about it and they clearly Looked disappointed over what their children are using in the name of fashion. They said that their children are wasting our money on these strange types of dresses, whenever we try to refrain them from wearing this kind of stuff; they always argue that we are having old School thinking, which doesn’t count in this modern world.

I met a university student and he told me a very interesting story about him that  one day I was Going to university on my bike I had an accident as a result of that I fell down on the road, I was injured and my pant was damaged and it had a big hole on my left knee role, for a minute I thought this pant is of no use now but then I realized that i Should tear my pant from my right knee roll also so that I can use this pant as a fashion. Still I am using that pant and nobody has any idea that it is deliberately damaged.

Cultural and traditional norms mean a lot to a society. Clothes are one of the very few Basic things that a society or culture is recognized with. These types of trends are pushing new generation to western culture and making theme to ignore their own traditions and culture. Our traditional and Cultural dresses have been limited to only specific days, such as Eid days and marriage ceremonies. And there is a small number of those who do not wear these cultural dresses even on these special occasions rather use jeans and other fabrics.

Modernization is not a bad thing at all, there should be a Balance between all the aspects, one should not leave aside their Cultural and traditional dresses and become a complete follower of western region and not even vice versa. We can still live a life while being modern and not have to compromise on our Cultural and traditional norms. It is just about creating a line where all the things remain in their specific limits.

[DAMAGED PANTS FASHION IN PAKISTAN]

“LIFE ISN’T PERFECT BUT YOUR OUTFIT CAN BE” [do not capitalise all words, attribution? whose quote is this?]

These companies manufacturing damaged pants are earning huge amounts few of them are mentioned Such as Levi’s, Wrangler, Lee jeans, Armani jeans, Calvin Klein. These pants are sold at different prices starting from 1K to 20k, depending upon the quality of jeans; cheaper pants have a higher demand than that of costlier one’s. People of all class wear these pants be it rich poor or middle class ones

MEAN SOMETHING” [do not capitalise all words]
                                                                (JAMES LAVER)
Most of The people who wear this type of stuff are youngster, teenagers who are inspired by their favorite Personalities such as film/drama Actors, Singers, sports athletes and other super stars. This trend stared long ago in western countries but it has recently arised in this country. As a result of this rapidly Spreading trend of damaged pants our new generation is losing interest towards our cultural and local dresses. Although the trend of damaged pants is very famous amongst youngster’s, it is disliked by older people, I had a chat with few parents about it and they clearly expresses their disappointment over what their children are using in the name of fashion. They said that their children are wasting our money on these strange types of dresses, whenever we try to refrain them from wearing this kind of stuff; they always argue that we are having old School thinking, which doesn’t count in this modern world.

One incident that comes to my mind is that, one day I was traveling to university on my bike I had an accident as a result of that I fell down on the road, I was injured and my pant was damaged and it had a big whole on my left knee role, for a minute I thought this pant is of no use now but then I realized that i Should tear my pant from my right knee roll also so that I can use this pant as a fashion. And still I am using that pant and nobody has any idea that it is deliberately damaged.

We live in a society in which Cultural and traditional norms mean a lot to us.   Clothes are one of the very few Basic things that a society or culture is recognized with. These types of trends are pushing our new generation to western culture and making theme to ignore their own traditions and culture. Our traditional and Cultural dresses have been limited to only specific days, such as Eid days and marriage ceremonies. And there is a small number of those who do not wear these cultural dresses even on these special occasions rather use jeans and other fabrics.

In my personal opinion I always think that modernization is not a bad thing at all, there should be a Balance between all the aspects, one should not leave aside their Cultural and traditional dresses and become a complete follower of western region and not even vice versa. We can still live a life while being modern and not have to compromise on our Cultural and traditional norms.
